Newburgh Community Land Bank partnership with
Habitat for Humanity
Newburgh Community Land Bank has successfully fully abated and stabilized 22 historic properties and transferred them to Habitat for Humanity to rehabilitate for their program. The effort on South Miller Street saw the successful adaptive re-use of 22, 24, 26 & 30 S Miller into new affordable homes for local families. We continued our partnership with Habitat on vacant properties on Williams and Johnston Street in 2018-19 and they are currently renovating 2 properties, as well as building 3 homes from the ground up, on Johnston and N. Miller Streets . Habitat’s unique model allows for the most affordable homeownership option for low to moderate income families in our community. Habitat Newburgh has successfully rehabbed and built over 100 homes in our city since their founding.
